The checklist
Print this, or read it the night before. It is deliberately short.
- Two forms of ID. Names must match your PSI registration exactly. A married name on one and a maiden name on the other is a real problem.
- Your GCIC criminal history report, dated within 60 days of the exam date.
- Payment method for your licence, if you intend to buy it at the test center the same day. Most people who pass wish they had.
- Nothing else you cannot lock away. Phones, watches, notes, and bags go into a locker.
What check-in is like
Identity verification against your two IDs, a signature, storage of personal items, and usually a scan or pat-down before you enter the testing room. It is unhurried if you arrived early and stressful if you did not. The 30-minute buffer exists because check-in for several candidates happens at once.
During the exam
152 scored questions, with the national and Georgia items intermixed rather than delivered in blocks. Up to 10 unscored pretest items may be mixed in, indistinguishable from the scored ones. Answer everything as though it counts, because you cannot tell.
You can flag questions and return to them. The practical strategy: move quickly through recall questions, flag long math stems, and bank the time for them at the end when the pressure of unanswered questions is gone.
The moment of results
Your result appears on screen the moment you submit, with a per-portion breakdown. There is no waiting period and no letter in the post.
If you pass, the test center hands you a Certificate of Accuracy Statement. Do not sign it. Your licence application needs it unsigned, and signing it is a genuinely common and entirely avoidable mistake.

Buying your licence the same day
You can purchase your Georgia licence at the PSI test center immediately after passing. The fee is $170 if you apply within 3 months of passing and $340 between 3 and 12 months. After 12 months your exam result expires and you retake the exam. Same-day purchase removes every one of those risks.
