What should you bring to PSI?
Accepted ID and exact name matching
The ID must match the scheduled name, include your signature and photo, and be valid and unexpired. The current bulletin lists:
- State-issued driver's license
- State-issued identification card
- United States passport
- United States military identification card
- United States Alien Registration Card
- Foreign-government passport
- Foreign-government identification
The bulletin notes that a United States military ID is not allowed for remote testing. The same bulletin does not currently offer a remote Georgia salesperson route, so use the in-person appointment requirements PSI confirms for you.
The Rule
If the scheduled name does not match your ID, contact PSI before exam day. Improper identification invalidates the registration and forfeits the fee.
Online calculator, scratch paper, and personal items
PSI provides an online calculator. Handheld calculators are prohibited, as are phones, watches, cameras, computers, earbuds, recording devices, and other electronics. Reference materials, notes, food, drinks, tobacco products, weapons, and personal writing tools are also prohibited under the published security rules.
You may be given a piece of scratch paper and a pencil. Return both during checkout. The wording “may be given” means you should not promise yourself paper in advance or bring your own. Ask the proctor what is available.
Bulky outerwear and some head coverings are restricted, with religious apparel treated separately. Dress in simple layers that meet the center rules.
What happens during check-in?
- Arrive 30 minutes before the appointment.
- Present the required ID and complete PSI sign-in.
- Store or surrender prohibited personal items as directed.
- Complete the security procedure and follow the proctor's instructions.
- Use the computer tutorial before the timed examination begins.
Guests, drivers, children, friends, family, colleagues, and instructors may not wait in the examination center, building, or property under the current PSI protocol.
What is the computer experience like?
The examination uses a mouse and keyboard. The tutorial can take up to 15 minutes and does not count against exam time. One question appears on screen at a time, minutes remaining are shown at the top, and you may return to change responses before time expires.
PSI allows comments on examination questions through a Comments function. Staff review substantive comments but do not reply individually. This is the official review route for a question you believe is defective.
Restroom and break rule
After the examination begins, you may leave the room only to use the restroom and only after obtaining the proctor's permission. No extra examination time is provided. Plan food, medication, and restroom timing in accordance with PSI instructions and any approved accommodation.
What happens when you finish?
Your result appears on screen and PSI emails the score report. A failing report includes diagnostic strengths and weaknesses. If you pass, keep the Certification of Accuracy Statement unsigned. Same-day licensing is no longer available. Wait 24 hours and follow the separate license-application checklist.
