The exam costs $175; the PSI bulletin lists a $170 license fee. Same-day licensing is no longer available, and the examination must be retaken if the license is not activated within 12 months.

Read the prelicense education guide before paying a school. Only GREC-approved or officially accepted equivalent education satisfies the route.

What does exam day require?

One current, valid, unexpired government ID with a photo and signature, matching the PSI registration name. Arrive 30 minutes early. PSI supplies an online calculator, not a handheld device. The GCIC report is a license-application document, not an item the current bulletin tells every candidate to bring to the exam.

What do you bring for license issuance?

Valid photo identification accepted under the licensing section of the PSI bulletin.
Your unsigned Certification of Accuracy Statement with photograph.
A Sponsoring Broker Statement with the correct firm number if you want active status.
A certified GCIC criminal history report obtained no more than 60 days before the application, or the current out-of-state equivalent.
A signed and notarized Lawful Presence Affidavit.
The nonrefundable $170 license fee in an accepted form.

PSI accepts specified cards, cashier's checks, and money orders under the current bulletin. It does not accept cash, personal checks, or company checks. A declined card can trigger a handling fee.

Active versus inactive license

An active salesperson must be licensed under an active Georgia broker. Bring the Sponsoring Broker Statement if you want active issuance. If you are not ready to join a firm, PSI can issue the license inactive without that form. Inactive status is real licensure, but it does not authorize brokerage activity.

Deadlines after passing

Wait at least 24 hours before seeking license issuance at PSI.
GREC Rule 520-1-.04 imposes a higher application fee after 3 months. An inactive application, which needs no sponsoring broker, also meets that deadline.
Activate the license within 12 months or retake the examination.
Complete the 25-hour salesperson post-license course within the first year unless an authorized extension applies.

Ongoing education

Active renewal requires 36 hours of continuing education per renewal period, including at least 3 hours on license law. The 25-hour first-year course is a separate new-salesperson requirement. Do not count the same obligation twice or replace one with the other.

How much should you budget?
