How Georgia Real Estate Exam Scoring and Passing Work

PSI displays your Georgia salesperson exam result on screen and emails a score report. The sample report shows one total pass or fail plus national and Georgia subtotals. A failing report includes diagnostic information. The public July 1, 2026 bulletin does not state a numeric passing score, separate portion thresholds, or the exam duration.

Facts checked against the current PSI Candidate Information Bulletin and GREC sources. Last reviewed August 2, 2026. Editorial standards.

How does PSI report the result?

Your result appears on screen when the examination ends and PSI emails a score report. The bulletin's sample Certification of Accuracy shows a total score with a pass or fail and national and Georgia subtotals beneath it. If you fail, the emailed report includes diagnostic information by examination type.

Why does Pass Georgia not print 75%?

Because repetition is not a primary source. Rule 520-1-.04(3)(a) says the passing score is determined by psychometrically sound criterion-related methods tied to minimal competence, and that the method and minimum are published before administration. The currently public bulletin does not show the number. A study target can be higher than the minimum, but it must not be labeled the official cut score.

The Rule

Use practice scores to measure stability and identify weak content, not to claim a guaranteed exam result. No prep provider controls PSI's form, scoring method, or final licensing decision.

How do experimental items work?

PSI may administer one to ten unscored experimental questions, generally around 10% of the examination question count. They help develop future tests. They do not count toward the score, but they do use exam time. Treat every question as scored because the bulletin does not give a way to identify experimental items.

How should a passing candidate read the report?

Save the emailed report and follow the licensing instructions. Do not infer that a weak subtotal needs remedial action for licensure unless PSI says so. Wait 24 hours before returning to an authorized PSI licensing location, and prepare the documents listed in the after-passing guide.

How should a failing candidate use the diagnostic?

  1. Identify whether the weakness is national, Georgia, or broad across both.
  2. Map each named weakness to the official content outline.
  3. Repair the two or three highest-impact gaps first.
  4. Review explanations for every miss and label the error: knowledge, distinction, wording, calculation, or timing.
  5. Retest only after mixed results are stable, not merely because a date is available.

Current unresolved scoring questions

You need 75% on the Georgia real estate exam

GREC sets no fixed percentage. Rule 520-1-.04(3)(a) says candidates must make a passing score determined by psychometrically sound criterion-related methods, and that the minimum is published before each administration. Sites quoting a flat 75%, or 75 of 100 and 39 of 52, are not quoting a source.

You must pass the national and Georgia portions separately

The bulletin's sample score report shows one total score with a pass or fail, and national and Georgia subtotals beneath it. Nothing in the bulletin describes independent pass marks per portion. We are asking GREC to confirm how a split result is treated.

You get 4 hours for the exam

The 7/1/2026 bulletin states no examination time limit. We have asked PSI for the current figure and will publish it when we have it in writing.

For the document itself, read how to interpret the score report. For a failed result, use the retake recovery plan.

Scoring and passing questions

Facts checked against the current PSI Candidate Information Bulletin and GREC sources. Last reviewed August 2, 2026. Editorial standards.

What score do I need to pass the Georgia real estate exam?

The public July 1, 2026 PSI bulletin does not state a numeric passing score. GREC Rule 520-1-.04 says the minimum is determined using psychometrically sound criterion-related methods and published before administration. Pass Georgia does not substitute an unsourced 75%.

Do I have to pass the national and Georgia portions separately?

The public bulletin shows a total pass or fail with national and Georgia subtotals, but it does not describe separate passing thresholds or portion carryover. Confirm the current treatment directly with PSI before making a retake decision.

Do experimental questions affect my score?

No. PSI may add 1 to 10 experimental items. They are unscored but consume examination time, and the bulletin does not say candidates can identify them.

When do I receive the result?

PSI displays the result on screen at the end and emails the score report. A failing emailed report includes diagnostic information showing strengths and weaknesses by examination type.
